I've moved to the cloud.
Come for a visit.

Hello, World!

Here are the blogs I have been planning to write ever since blogs were invented. I hope somebody finds them useful.

Please send your (thoughtful and engaged) comments to Wenchie@gmail.com ...and always write the name of the blog in your subject line, as proof of your human origins.

Enjoy! Sincerely,

Wenchie

Age 59 (ouch!)

When I turned 50, I decided to transform myself into a "full stack developer." I didn't succeed, but I did learn lots of cool computer tricks (like my amazing pullable face flag!) Regular people will find tons of useful tips, as will neophyte programmers. And, yes, I know the blog should be renamed,"Coding at 60," but they want $2k for that domain name... C'mon!

Inspired by an overly-chirpy, Barbie-thin "counselor" at a weight-loss clinic I once attended ("How ya'll doin'? Great? That's awesome!"), this blog is for fat people who cannot honestly pretend they enjoy eating tofu and sweet potatoes. No cheerful dieters or naturally thin people allowed!

It all started with a book called "Hand Coloring Black and White Photography." My career as an artist? No, my career as a lover of "How To Art" books, and my destructive side-career as an insane purchaser of arts & craft supplies. I am fascinated by the over-arching question of how people create "meaning" in this very unstable world, and I enjoy getting my hands dirty while trying to make things.

This is where I am dumping everything that doesn't fit into the above-mentioned blogs -- and there's a lot. I wanted to have a blog called "Random Thoughts of Mary Dean," and another called "Things That Actually Work," and another called "TiredMom.com," and another called "ConstructionWife.com," and, of course, "MaryDeanMusic," and "MaryDeanPhotography"... You get the picture. No niche-ing down for me! The idea of writing exclusively about one narrow topic -- there's a whole world out there! -- in order to fit neatly into the crushing jaws of an evil search engine, no thank you!

P.S. All of my blogs are written on the free Ghost platform and hosted for only $6 a month at DigitalOcean.com. If you want to make your own, I will step you through the process in my Coding blog. Let's reclaim the Internet for free expression, and snatch it back from those monopolist oligarchs. Hip hip!
